Why lions?

After years of stepping away from my art education to navigate the demands of life, I found myself yearning to reignite my creative spark. While working outside the arts, the need to express myself artistically pulled me back. Inspired by my studies in astrology, "Leo Rising" emerged as the catalyst that kick-started my creative journey once again.

In the intricate dance of self-discovery and cosmic alignment, being a Leo Rising presents a unique soul purpose — to master the art of self-love without seeking external approval. This profound realisation became the driving force behind "Leo Rising," an acrylic and ink canvas painting that visually tells the story of the celestial dance between personality and higher self.

Leo Rising, governed by the majestic Sun in exoteric and esoteric[1] astrology, establishes a consistent and harmonious link between one's personality and the higher self. The recognition that the Sun rules both facets of my rising sign became the muse for my artistic exploration. The only other sign this is true for is Cancer, where the moon rules both. All the other signs have two, or several rulers.

As "Leo Rising" took form, the canvas metamorphosed into a reflective surface, capturing the synergy between individuality and the higher self. The artwork centres around two male lions, inspired by a poignant image of brothers in an Indian rescue centre, symbolising strength, courage, and regality — qualities that align seamlessly with Leo's essence.
